How fake job offers on messaging apps empty people's bank accounts
'Work from home' tasks, small early payouts — and then a demand for deposits
The messages look harmless: an offer of easy work-from-home tasks like liking videos or writing reviews, with a small payment for the first few. Then victims are asked to deposit money to unlock bigger earnings.
Police cyber cells say the money is usually moved quickly through several accounts. By the time victims realise, it is hard to trace.
Genuine employers do not ask you to pay to start work. Report such messages on the national cybercrime portal or call 1930.
