Raza Murad Reacts to Imran Khan’s ‘Leave India’ Notice: ‘Foreigners Should Not Interfere in Internal Affairs’

Actor Raza Murad has backed the principle that foreign nationals should not interfere in India’s internal politics after actor Imran Khan received a notice directing him to leave the country by October 28.

Raza Murad Reacts to Imran Khan’s ‘Leave India’ Notice: ‘Foreigners Should Not Interfere in Internal Affairs’

eteran Bollywood actor Raza Murad has reacted to the notice asking actor Imran Khan to leave India, saying that foreign nationals should not interfere in the country’s internal affairs or politics.

“Whether it is Imran Khan or anyone else, no foreign national has the right to interfere in the internal affairs of our country,” Murad said. He added that if Imran believes the notice is unfair, he can approach a court and should accept the court’s final decision.

The statement comes after Mumbai authorities issued a notice directing Imran Khan, who is an American citizen, to leave India by October 28. The action followed his participation in a protest in Mumbai against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The case has sparked debate about foreign nationals, political demonstrations and the rights of people living in India.

What Did Raza Murad Say?

Murad said he had only recently learned that Imran Khan was an American citizen. In his view, foreign nationals should not take an active role in India’s internal political affairs.

He also defended the authorities’ action, saying Imran had been given time until October 28 rather than being ordered to leave immediately. Murad said that if Imran felt he was being treated unfairly, he was free to approach the court.

Murad stressed that the final decision of the judiciary should be respected by everyone. His comments have added another voice to the public debate surrounding the actor’s immigration notice.

Why Was Imran Khan Asked to Leave India?

Imran Khan, the nephew of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, attended a protest at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on October 10, 2026. Protesters at the gathering demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Police briefly detained the actor during the demonstration. The Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) subsequently issued a notice directing him to leave India by October 28, citing alleged violations of immigration rules.

According to media reports, the action followed a complaint by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who questioned the participation of a foreign national in a political protest. Authorities have cited the relevant provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. The notice contains allegations of legal violations; it is not, by itself, a criminal conviction.

Can a Foreign National Take Part in a Political Protest in India?

Foreign nationals in India are subject to immigration laws and the conditions attached to their visa or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status, where applicable. OCI status does not make a person an Indian citizen.

Political participation can raise legal questions depending on the activity, the person’s status and the rules that apply. In Imran Khan’s case, authorities have alleged that his participation in the protest violated the relevant legal provisions.

However, the legal position and the validity of the notice can be examined through the appropriate legal process. The actor is entitled to seek legal advice and challenge the action before a court if he believes it is unlawful.

What Happens Next?

Media reports say Imran Khan is expected to challenge the notice before the Bombay High Court. If he does so, the court can examine the legal basis for the action and decide whether any relief should be granted.

Until a court rules on the matter, the notice and the actor’s reported plan to challenge it should be treated as separate developments. The case could also raise broader questions about the limits of political activity by foreign nationals and the legal protections available to people facing immigration action.

For now, Raza Murad’s position is clear: he believes foreign nationals should not interfere in India’s internal politics, while also saying that anyone who believes they have been treated unfairly can seek relief from the courts.
