Sanju Samson Defends India’s Bowlers After 24-Run T20I Defeat
Sanju Samson scored a half-century but India lost the fourth T20I to West Indies by 24 runs. The wicketkeeper-batter backed India’s young fast bowlers, saying they will improve with experience.
Sanju Samson defended India’s young fast bowlers after the team suffered a 24-run defeat against West Indies in the fourth T20 International. Despite Samson’s half-century, India failed to chase a challenging target of 248 runs, allowing West Indies to level the five-match series at 2-2.
West Indies, asked to bat first, posted a massive total of 247 for three wickets. Captain Shai Hope led the charge with an unbeaten 102 off 50 balls. India were bowled out for 223 in 19.3 overs, falling short of the target by 24 runs.
Fast bowler Keemo Paul was a key figure in the West Indies victory, taking five wickets and putting India’s batting line-up under pressure.
Sanju Samson Backs Young Fast Bowlers
Following the defeat, India’s bowlers faced criticism for conceding a high total. However, Samson urged people to give the young fast bowlers time to develop, saying that regular opportunities and match experience would help them improve.
Samson acknowledged that India cannot easily replace Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the match. He described Bumrah as a rare talent and said India were fortunate to have a bowler of his quality.
At the same time, Samson expressed confidence in the country’s emerging pace attack. He praised Arshdeep Singh for his performances and said Prasidh Krishna had also impressed in recent matches.
Samson’s comments highlighted the challenge of maintaining India’s bowling strength when an experienced match-winner such as Bumrah is unavailable.
West Indies Level the Series
The fourth T20I proved crucial for West Indies, who needed a victory to draw level in the series. Hope’s century gave the hosts a strong platform, while Paul’s five-wicket haul helped prevent India from completing the chase.
India managed 223 runs, with Samson contributing a half-century, but the team could not sustain the scoring rate needed to reach the target.
With the series level at 2-2, the final match becomes decisive for both teams. India will look to strengthen their bowling performance, while West Indies will aim to carry the momentum from their emphatic win into the series decider.
Samson’s message was clear: India’s young fast bowlers need time and opportunities to gain experience and become more consistent at the international level.
