Barabanki beat their rivals 37-34 in a tense final of the state women's kabaddi league, with the captain's super raid in the last two minutes turning the match.
Eight of the players come from the same village government school, where they still practise on a mud ground. Their coach says the team trained from 5 a.m. every day.
The district sports officer says he will propose felicitation for the team and mats for the ground.
