President Murmu and PM Modi Share Vijayadashami Message in Delhi

Vijayadashami was celebrated across India with Ramlila performances and the burning of Ravana effigies. In Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended separate Dussehra events and shared messages based on the ideals of Lord Ram.

President Murmu Highlights Equality and Inclusion

President Droupadi Murmu attended the Dussehra celebration at the Shri Ram Leela Committee grounds in Dwarka, Sector 10. She symbolically shot an arrow at Ravana’s effigy as part of the Ravana Dahan ceremony.

In her address, the President said she was happy to see India moving forward in line with the values of equality and inclusion reflected in the story of Lord Ram.

She also spoke about respecting nature and protecting rivers, lakes, forests and wildlife, noting that these responsibilities are part of the Fundamental Duties mentioned in the Constitution.

PM Modi Says Public Welfare Should Be the Aim of Governance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Dussehra celebration in IP Extension, East Delhi. He greeted people on Vijayadashami and said the festival was a reminder of the victory of truth over falsehood and the end of injustice.

Modi said that the idea of Ram Rajya meant a system where people face no discrimination, everyone gets justice and all have equal opportunities.

He added that the purpose of power should not simply be to govern, but to serve the public. He also stressed that the poor and disadvantaged must remain a priority.

Modi Calls for Self-Reliance and Collective Effort

The Prime Minister said people should not depend entirely on others during difficult times. Instead, they should recognise their own strengths, use available resources and work together to find solutions.

Referring to Lord Ram’s journey to Lanka, Modi said determination and public participation could help overcome even difficult challenges.

PM Modi Says India Is Bringing Back Its Heritage

Modi also spoke about India’s cultural heritage, saying that ancient artefacts taken abroad over the centuries were being brought back. He said more than 650 ancient idols had returned to India over the past 12 years.

His message linked Vijayadashami with courage, truth, humanity and the belief that good ultimately triumphs over evil.
