Nana Patekar’s Deep Military Bond: From Commando Training for ‘Prahar’ to Standing With Soldiers in Kargil

Before becoming one of Bollywood’s most respected actors, Nana Patekar underwent rigorous military-style training and later volunteered to be with Indian soldiers during the Kargil Operations.

As a Major, when he portrayed himself as an Army Officer and acted as a Commando Instructor. In fact he had everything in him what an instructor ought to possess.
As a Major, when he portrayed himself as an Army Officer and acted as a Commando Instructor. In fact he had everything in him what an instructor ought to possess.

Nana Patekar's military bonding started when he was trained at the Maratha Light Infantry Centre, Belgaum before shooting of the famous bollywood movie 'Prahar'.

During the commando training at the Infantry School, officers are trained to undertake a "confidence walk" on a small wooden base plank which can barely take the balance of the body and which is located at a considerable height above the water surface called as Ledo Tank. After his training Nana Patekar had passed this acid test as well.

Even during Kargil Operations he volunteered and was with our soldiers in Dras where he contributed in his own way.

His simplicity and always remaining grounded were his top virtues which won the hearts of millions.

RIP
